EPRI leaders participated in 25 events over the course of COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan. Through COP panels and side events EPRI builds and strengthens productive collaborations that advance the energy transition.
Working with global nonprofits, government entities and energy industry stakeholders, EPRI develops important research, development and demonstrations (RD&D) to help guide the energy transition and lends an independent, nonprofit voice.
At COP29, Neil Wilmshurst, EPRI’s Senior Nuclear Officer and Managing Director of EPRI Gulf, focused on advancements in nuclear development. He participated in the launch of Project Phoenix with the U.S. Department of State for which EPRI received a grant. This project will aid Ukraine in conducting an assessment for the conversion of the country's existing coal plants to nuclear power generation with SMR technology.
