
Background, Objectives, and New Learnings
Recent feedback from project set members at the Enterprise Architecture (EA) Task Force and the Advisory sessions have provided valuable insights how utilities view their company’s Enterprise Architecture Integration efforts.
Project set funders have mentioned that they would like to better understand their Enterprise Architecture maturity, and how their company compares against other utilities, including where their company can improve next.
This new supplemental project opportunity is a direct result of two deliverables that are updated each year:
- Top Ten Indicators of Enterprise Architecture Maturity Collects attributes of a mature EA practice at utilities and industry at large, ranked in a maturity model format. A survey of questions to uncover the maturity level at a utility and
- The Utility Enterprise Architecture Guidebook This guidebook seeks to address a gap between reading a leading enterprise architecture reference such as The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF) and being able to apply it. TOGAF is a valuable resource that generically describes the process of developing architecture, novice practitioners of enterprise architecture often do not know how to get started or how to apply the methods in TOGAF to develop an architecture in a utility context.

Benefits
This project can benefit EA teams at funding utilities and non-funders of Enterprise Architecture and Integration. The project addresses gaps in EA as Strategy, the Business-IT relationship and business architecture.
EPRI‘s EA project set (161E) will benefit from industry knowledge of the state of the industry and where EPRI can contribute.
Project Approach and Summary
Each individual participating utility of this project opportunity will receive a specific assessment of their own EA maturity and an understanding of what’s required to increase maturity. In addition, the utility will understand how their latest priorities and strategic objectives will benefit from increased maturity in certain areas.
Deliverables
Each participating utility will receive an individual report of their Enterprise Architecture Maturity Assessment (scoring).
Price of Project
The cost to join this project opportunity for each participant is: $25,000 (single funder)
Project Status and Schedule
Project will start one month after funding is complete.
